Exeweb Rail travel HQ or so it seems!!
For those with Railcards whether it be a Senior, 16-25 YP Card, Disabled Railcard or Forces Railcard you can break it down into off peak day returns by doing the following.

Exeter St Davids - Taunton = £6.20
Taunton - Bristol Temple Meads = £6.85
Bristol Temple Meads - Cheltenham Spa £4.90
Cheltenham Spa - Birmingham New Street = £12.55
Birmingham New Street - Stoke-on-Trent = £8.60
Stoke-on-Trent - Manchester Piccadilly = £5.90

Total comes to £45 which is £20.35 cheaper than a through off peak return with Railcard discount and cheaper than any Advance Tickets that are available online too.

To get to Bury from Manchester Piccadilly or City Centre is the regular Metrolink tram service which is very frequent and takes between 20 and 25 minutes.

Cheers for that bit of info.

That makes mine, North Camp to Banbury via Reading £9.90, Banbury to Birmingham New Street £9.75, Birmingham New Street to Stoke £8.60 then
Stoke to Manchester Piccadilly £5.90. £34.15. All with a railcard. Not bad!

That's very good - I've done okay with only a Gold Card (which only covers the South East) and an NUS card. Reading to Banbury £6.60 with the Gold Card, Banbury to Manchester £39 advance with 10% student discount that CrossCountry kindly offer!
