I understand why Mansfield are trying this no harm in trying things. But if you listen to all the media we won’t need floodlights because we won’t have no money to afford to go.
And we wouldn't be able to watch at home on ifollow due to power cuts ! :p

Slightly off topic, but could the club not look at installing solar panels on the roofs of the stands in an attempt to generate some of their own power? or am i vastly under educated in the way of solar panels?

Certainly the roof of the Bank faces the wrong direction. Probably true of the Stanno stand too. The Selco will have some direct sunlight blocked out by the school building (I think) so it only leaves the roof of the away end, which isn't very big.

This has been mentioned before. Obviously the initial cost of installation is high and the payback takes a relatively long time. Of course the biggest use of electricity, I believe, would be the floodlights. Inevitably floodlights are necessary when its dark, which are also the conditions whereby solar panels are useless. The curerent rates for selling back to the grid (certainly for domestic set-ups) are a fraction of what the cost to buy from the grid currently are. Battery storage is of course another option, but that's another large chunk of investment.

The cost of PV panels are a lot cheaper now (£300 a panel) and installation is easier too. Takes 4/5 years before a decent ROI. Battery storage can also be an option.

Here's a quote I received recently for solar panels. The panel cost is exactly £300, but there's a huge amount of other gubbins that you need as well, meaning 11 panels cost £10k. The projected payback period I was quoted (assuming I switched to an EV imminently) was 12 years. Obviously a domestic supply, and we have a SSE facing roof.

I really hope that this doesn't happen. You get into a bit of a routine with 3pm kick offs and like others have said, it makes it difficult for people working Saturday mornings to attend.
I hope there is some input from the Trust on this if it is mooted

No, but some years ago it was discussed at Gates Committee, and it wasn't as much as I'd expected, a small number of hundreds of pounds (I don't have the details any more). It will be several times more now (high hundreds of £s, maybe over £1,000?) but still much less than the loss from moving to 1pm.

500 off the gate at an average of £12 net of VAT would be £6,000, before the loss of commercial merchandise and refreshment revenue.

The whole point is that we don't know the cost, and Shirley before the Club can do an effective valuation that needs doing whatever any eventual outcome/decision is.
I take issue with other points that you raise too. We have some big home games coming up, against the likes of Ipswich and Sheffield Wednesday, which on present evidence will be sell outs, irrespective of kick off time. Based on the experience of big games that we have had against the likes of the Cornish with an early kick off, why have the Club not fought "tooth and nail" against the earlier starts if there is a massive financial hit in non gate revenue ? To be blunt I think that the case is being overstated as the bars and Club shop do not have the space and ability to cope and therefore fully financially exploit the additional demand. We need to address that to fully realise the benefits that can be accrued from Project 6000.
