Should Malaga be relegated, which seems inevitable, they will be playing in an andalusian regional league. Still equivalent to league 1 but with a 30k+ capacity stadium. 😱

Update from today.....

Malaga need to win both games and overturn a 6 goal deficit to avoid relegation to division 3. That's the equivalent of a premier league team that has qualified for europe in the last 10 years being relegated to league 1😨

Much like Leeds Utd when we played them in League 1.

Malaga now relegated following their defeat yesterday. They are relegated to the segunda division B.

Very complicated is the spanish league system. My local team mijas were in the playoffs, lost the first leg 1-0, won the second 1-0, their opponents play in the final as they finished higher in the league than mijas. no extra time, penalties nonsense....And the champions were not promoted because they lost in the playoffs.:unsure:

This explains it all https://www.ertheo.com/blog/en/spanish-football-league-system/

What a laugh , can’t feel too sorry for them , that’s the chance these teams take with all the money being thrown at them especially at the top end of the game.Even at our level too we’ve seen it all with the likes of Bury.
Now we’ll spend the next season or two hearing about Wrexham , another money made success story , wonder if that will end in tears.
