If you are going to try and quote "statistics" at least try to check the FACTS first.

Under trust ownership attendances have tended to have been at least as high, if not higher, than in most previous regimes. Even during our darkest time.

In fact, despite not quite making the playoffs last season's average gate was nearly 500 up on the previous season.

How about some ACTUAL average attendance numbers for you to suck on

Indeed, one has to go back HALF A CENTURY to the 60s and before for a time when gates, at our current level, regularly held above even 4,000 - apart from the last four years that is.
From the figures posted on the ladies thread I thought I'd knock up a graphical representation. It does show steady growth in attendance.

Interesting. The context of course is that in the Trust years we have consistently finished in the top third of the table, which certainly was not the case for the generation or two prior to then. I think it probably also shows a wider trend in football where attendances are increasing. Finally the population of Exeter and surrounding areas has increased noticeably in the last 20 years or so.

In RaWZ we trust....Amen.
Looking at the graph, the median is roughly where where the average was last season.

Yes, but there is also the fact we spent 5 years in the conference, where some of the away support was minimal to say the least. Added to that we now have to contend with a rugby team that takes support away, unprecedented in our history, when football used to be the only gig in town. So we are doing pretty well to not fall tbh.

Context should work both ways really.

I personally think that some of this is due to the Trust model, and bringing through youngsters.

Roughly the average looks around 4,000 but mid 80's seems low at 2,000.

The years I attended most regularly in the '80's are the lowest averages so I would like to claim some personal responsibility for that.

Reflecting the general decline at all clubs during that era,due to various issues..85/86 is always thought of as rock bottom for football in this country off the pitch.
