Excellent news. Is now, deservedley, a regular in the side & will continue to get better and better. Still has the odd mistake in him but I think he will develop into a Championship level CH.
He is still aware of what he needs to improve on, which is a great attribute to have.
Exactly. Alex was partly at fault for the goal against Crawley but I thought, apart from that, he had an excellent game. Easy to forget how relatively inexperienced he is and that he is still getting to used to the challenge of playing regular league football but he has already become one of our most dependable players.

One additional good thing about his contract extension is that we would otherwise been vulnerable to him being lured away at the end of next season *on a free* as he would by then be 24.

MT mentioned Alex as one of those who might ultimately move on to bigger things. I suspect that becomes more likely if he does eye catching things like scoring a few goals - he has shown himself as useful in the opposition box, but without yet regularly converting many of the chances.

(PS what did people think about Saturday's goal for Bradford? could/should Alex have done better?)

Certainly not. Let's be fair, that was a peach of a pass....

Alex is improving all the time. Another one through the ranks. :)

Going on video evidence alone it looks like he should have done better - seemed to be caught flat footed and in two minds whether to intercept/play offside or stay with his man.

If someone was flat footed, it was Colin Daniels, who just watched the ball go past him. He left it, which then drew Hartridge in to try the interception. The higlights don't catch it, but Dawson went absolutely ballistic at Daniels. When the camera pans back, you see Daniel's sheepishly walking away.

Hartridge is the quickest of our centre backs. If he can't catch a striker breaking through, then none of them will.

Daniel's wasn't flat footed just caught too far up the pitch by about seven or eight yards.

If Hartridge had made that interception it would have been brilliant defending, as it was he chose to stay on his feet and chase back. Either way it was always going to be a tough choice.

That's wing backs for you. I have yet to be convinced they are in any way a good idea
