Walking up to the game around 2.50pm today, a large group of young city academy players past us going in the opposite direction. We jokingly told them they were going the wrong way but it did start us wondering why they wouldn't be at the game. Surely it would be good for them to be in the stadium watching the first team playing, using it to discuss issues and take the experiences into their own training games. Perhaps they usually do attend or are they expected to be elsewhere on home match days, anyone know how that set up works? It just seemed strange to see the future walking away from the present.

Yes very strange, maybe they can’t afford a ticket.

Does seem odd but I think a lot of footballers find watching football 'boring', sadly.

Possibly they had been training/playing all morning at the Cat n Fiddle and were off to find sustenance for their developing bodies ??????

They were certainly in the ground during the game as I saw them walking up and down in front of the Stansfield Stand in pairs.

Maybe CB, but it still seemed strange that the potential future first team players were not at the game as an academy group to watch the first team pros in action and that this isnt a normal part of their development.

Have noticed this phenomenon in this past ! It seems to be a pre match ritual of visiting the "Colonel's" in Sidwell Street before heading back for the game ! Lol

Well Rozencrantz reckons they were there so probably you're right and they returned after some scoff.
