A little surprised to see Smallcombe and Norman go, I thought people here considered them both to be fairly decent?

Boateng out of contract too, but replaceable. Would be disappointed to see him move on to a club in our division, but we should get compensation regardless if he does leave (only turned 23 this year).

Nice words from Matt but he does not sound happy with the
Hiram Boateng situation.

New goalkeepers is of the utmost priority. There seems to be plenty available, would be nice if we could get some news before the 2nd or 3rd week in June.

Need to be patient!

As mentioned in the other thread, Frank Fielding is available. What a coup that would be (but rather unlikely I suspect).

I wasn’t surprised at either and I think I posted an assessment a couple of months back which implied that both were in danger of being released.

Smallcombe had the obstacle of a crowded central midfield at the club. But also he had fallen behind two other central midfielders in Dean and Kite, both of whom are quite a bit younger than him. He had his contract extended in January to the end of this season with MT saying that he needed to start threatening to get into the first team; sometimes he wasn’t picked for the reserves. By then Dean and Kite had contracts for next year.

Norman is a surprise if you believed the post that said he was already contracted for next season (which was also wrong about Kite). However reading match reports of the U18s made me worry there were too many avoidable errors. Also when Christy was suspended Norman didn’t make the bench, so was plainly fourth choice. OK he is only 19, but at that age Christy was a league two regular.

PS should comments like this,as opposed to the list itself, be moved to another thread?

There's never been any rules about what goes on these threads! Just so long as the first post is kept up to date!

I’d suggest very unlikely. Someone like Slocombe would be more realistic.

Shame to lose Pym and Boateng but both replaceable plus we will get some compo for Hiram. He needs to be far more consistent but he’s still a big loss.

Looks like we will need to wait a few weeks before signings get announced but I’ve turned on my twitter notifications for our official account just in case!

I OK he is only 19, but at that age Christy was a league two regular.
If I've got my maths right, so was James Hamon, or at least he played 20 games in a season at that age.
