    FA Cup 2021/22

The 1st Round used to be regionalised, but one reason for dispensing with it may have been that the north and south sections could sometimes be imbalanced in terms of the difficulty reaching the 3rd round - depending on the southern/northern split in Leagues 1 and 2. Also, there have always...

Another stoppage. Just as well I'm not on the first train back.

Hmm, Coley didn't try hard enough to stop that cross.

I'm claiming the credit for that. Just coming out of the gents in the IPS when Nombe scored.

Jay has obviously lost confidence in his old penalty technique. Time for someone else.

Think the ref knew he'd made a mistake on the first one. Kite looked like he won the ball, but maybe caught the player too.

    The Serious Torquay Thread

The debt formally accounted for up to the end of March 2020 was just over £3M. Past operating losses were running close to £1M/year, and add the effect of the pandemic, so a current debt (about 18 months later) in excess of £4M would be a reasonable guess. It's getting hard to understand what...

Plymuff Argyle U23's V Exeter City U23's Premier League Cup qualifying tie 2.00 p.m. (14.00) Kick off BST Match Day Thread

Have been digging around on the West Ham website and it suggests that our away match at Rush Green stadium will be on Weds 13th October at 2pm. If so, looks like a decent date for us as no midweek 1st team match that week.

Yes, seems quite likely. For those thinking about getting to the away games, Wolves appear to play their matches at Aggborough (Kidderminster), and West Ham play them at Rush Green Stadium in Romford (where West Ham Women play their matches). I think Swansea are playing at their training ground.

According to the report on the website we now play at home to Swansea next Tuesday night. https://www.exetercityfc.co.uk/news/2021/september/argyle-u23-report/ Wolves and West Ham are also in our group and played today, with Wolves winning 1-0

A trip to the Orient - Sat 14th August

Yeah, it's the old one (right-hand side of this photo). It's only "upper", in the sense that there is an old paddock at the front, which once upon a time was standing, but now has seats bolted on to the terrace.

Exeter City v Wycombe Carabao Cup Match Day Thread

Because some fans like to single out a player for abuse. It's just playground bullying. Has happened for as long as I can remember. Grounds played fine at the weekend given that he's only been here 5 minutes.

Commentary on the radio said Dieng picked up an injury just before the final whistle. Guess that's why he didn't take a pen.

    City pictures

This is great news. Could make a "coffee table" style book of the best ones, if the E&E would agree to it. On the Orient game that season, I was there! A 5-1 defeat in which we conceded our 100th goal of the season - an own goal, fittingly. I actually took my own little instamatic camera and...

    World Cup 2030

Suspect that after Sunday, any proposed bid is dead in the water and would be a bit of a waste of everyone's time. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/57823364 There's a strong argument anyway that a UEFA country should wait a bit longer given that Russia did 2018. So long as the...

    Photo - Thursday 25th April 1985 - any ideas?

The archive people are trying to capture them in here: http://grecianarchive.exeter.ac.uk/items/show/5321 They may not be complete, as they are a bit obscure. Some Dawlish matches in the early 70s. I think I went to one or two of these too.

    World Cup : Qatar Nov/Dec 2022.

Definitely not doing Qatar, can't see that being much fun. Better to watch on TV. Went to Germany in 2006 and Brazil in 2014 - didn't do England matches, other than watching our games in bars/fan parks. Instead, we picked cities we wanted to stay in and applied for tickets in those venues...
