In a way, I don't blame them. The sudden link up of US & UK under a Biden presidency is a most curious one. He's out Trumping Trump, but you know what, I think he's too far gone to even realise.

I think it's been coming for a while. China must be fancying their chances now though with a senile granpa in charge of their opposition.

Dunno. I did my A Levels in 1987, before trotting of to Uni in the bright lights. The Macc Ladd's gig was one of many. The one I mentioned was at a dinky Student Union (SOAS) and it absolutely went off. There was no stage to speak of and we were only kept away from the band by a row of bouncers...

The UK/US/AUS thing is either really ham-fisted or a masterstroke. Time will tell, but for now I'm thinking probably more the former.

Ah, Mr Stuckey (RIP). We knew him and family very well. Can't give too much away or you'll probably work out who I am!

In fairness to Gove, he does give things like that a good go. For instance, he really tried to shake up education and the prisons. But, as is usual with ministers, he was never in the position long enough.

What radio station do you listen to?

The saying "you won't miss it till it's gone" has never seemed more appropriate. There's only so much Tom Ravenscroft one can endure.

The Same, But Different, a thread for those awesome cover versions

Fishbone's cover of "Freddie's Dead" is better than the original. In fact, I only found it was a cover a month ago. Been hearing it for 30 years without knowing.

I actually prefer the original. And Marilyn Manson had a good crack too.

Watched 'Look Away', which has been touted as #metoo comes to Rock music. All a bit of a storm in a teacup really. Same old story...young girl(s) gets attracted to obvious bad boy(s) and then go on to reap the inevitable whirlwind. Now they're crying to the MSM 40 odd years later. Not much to...

I think she should be allowed a choice however: stay put or move to Afghanistan. The thing is, the route back from Afghanistan is a much easier one. I did see an interview with her about 6 months ago and part of me felt a twinge of sympathy. But I'm afraid she needs to be made an example of...

I see Shamima Begum on the UK airwaves this morning again begging that she be allowed back to Blighty with open arms. Has no-one told her that all she needs to do is make her way to Northern France where she'll be ushered onto a dinghy?

    Last Band you saw

First saw them in 1988. Absolute riot. I got a bottle to the head. Last band I saw was Metronomy at the Roundhouse in Dec 2019. Might be a while until I see another.
