Unfortunately for Seymour he was elevated to the first team earlier than he may otherwise have been due to Forte's retirement. Tom Nichols made his first team debut at Hillsborough in the last game of 2010/11 but it wasn't until 2013/14 that he made a significant number of appearances (28)...

True. But it didn't bounce immediately in front of him. He had enough time to adjust. I'm not defending the pitch here. I just don't think it was responsible for Taylor's misfit on that occasion.

Cracking game played at breakneck speed. We should have been three up before we scored: Jay had a great chance six yards out but got his legs in a tangle; Bowman should have scored when he rounded the keeper- the angle wasn't that tight; Randall should have scored when one on one with the keeper...

I knew someone would say that but I'm not having it. The ball bobbled up a long time before it reached Taylor. He should have done better.

No-one is concerned with the state of our pitch when we win 6-1 or 5-0. The pitch isn't perfect. But it's ten times better than it was fifteen years ago.
