So is there still a set of Tier One teams yet to start their FACup campaign? (12 of them to make a neat 32 teams for the fourth round?)

Yes.
They come in at Round 4.
See post #218 for the full info.

So, Which one of the Southampton teams are the stronger one?
The one connected to Southampton in the Premier League. They're managed by former England winger Marianne Spacey and are putting in a decent amount of money to get them up the league's. They play at AFC Totton's ground who are reaping some of the benefits as The Saints send their groundstaff over to look after their pitch. Or at least that's what I was told when Chlo made her one and only appearance for the first team up there.

The Southampton team we will be playing - Southampton Women’s FC - have a remarkable history in the Women’s FA Cup. They won the first final in 1971 and competed in each of the first NINE finals. They have won the Cup 8 times (last time in 1981). So they are a Club with great pedigree if now overshadowed by the other Southampton team (Southampton FC Women).

That’s very interesting. Thank you Martin.
We met briefly in the ECFC Museum at the recent Senior Reds meeting (Steve, Senior Reds bulletin contributor).
So presumably Southampton FC Women are new incarnation.
Do you know the relationship between the two clubs and why Southampton FC have outstripped their older colleague?
Maybe it’s because they’re supported by Southampton (mens) FC, but if so, why have they overlooked the original Southampton Women’s team?

When it comes to matters of Southampton Women’s football things are extremely complex. But yes the current entity that is Southampton FC Women (not the team we are playing) only started a senior Women’s team as recently as 2017. I can’t pretend to understand all the history but essentially Southampton FC took over an existing Club in 2001, then abandoned them and they subsequently folded. Southampton FC then had second thoughts about Women’s football and set up the current senior team in 2017. Meanwhile the original team in the city - Southampton Women FC (the team we are playing) - have just kept going independently and are now over 50 years old (formed 1970). But as you suggest they have been overtaken as the other team has the backing of a PL Club.

Yes it was good to meet you Steve. I look forward to catching up again. Hopefully we can discuss something less challenging than the history of Women’s football in Southampton!

It does seem to be strange talking about the FA Cup third round and keep seeing BBC trail the FA Cup Final this weekend 😉

Interesting to see about the game at London Seaward this Sunday. Bit of a story here too as until May this year they were Leyton Orient Women’s Football Club. Obviously a difficult parting of the ways as Seaward, crowdfunding for their now independent club, say they have dealt with the challenge of LOFC ‘suddenly ending our relationship, without prior notice and having just spent thousands on new kit’.
