But if there is a £1.25mill salary cap...?
Then it will all be about quality of club, manager, countryside, lifestyle...

Greater Manchester, Mansfield or East Devon? No comparison!
No comparison on property prices and living costs either. So on much reduced terms, unless we can significantly trump what is being offered up north, where is a player likely to choose?

Cost cutting measures from Championship clubs will still see the most sought after players turn up at places like Mansfield, Northampton and Salford though, so I don’t imagine things to get an easier for a club like City.
They won’t be heading to Northampton as they are on the brink of going bust by what I have heard.

So here we go again; another club that could make it to League 1 by spending way beyond their means & then implode once they get there.

A number of clubs in a tough position.

Just read this other bit about Northampton https://www.realbusinessrescue.co.uk/company-administration/local-council-looks-to-save-northampton-town-fc-from-winding-up-petition

It will be interesting to see who goes bust,Northampton have had known issues, and Colchester have off loaded a few players, interesting to see simon hallett at Argyle releasing their financials and including a long statement to the green faithful that even with their level of support, things won’t be easy,he has put in a shed load of money and will be interesting to see how much more they will need.when a well run club like burton Albion struggle it’s a wake up call to those who have gambled with their finances and we will see whose remains and who does a bury !

I've not read the article, but were't Northampton Council recently declared bankrupt themselves?

Perhaps they should change their name to Dunfurloughing?

many lower league and Scottish clubs will end up simply releasing every player out of contract if it looks as if there will be no games until say October. And just keeping the handful of pros already contracted for 2020-21.
Again shows the comparative disadvantage we may be under by having (sensibly and prudently) got most of the squad contracted for next season.
