If Stockley is not good enough for Charlton he is not good enough for us. We have moved on.

Longshot as we’d need a fee but I’d like Tom Anderson from DRFC. Played under GC at Chesterfied and played a massive number of games in L1. Doncaster might be in and around the play offs so would want to keep hold of him. Would be a good age, experienced CB.

It depends why he's not good enough for Charlton.

Cureton spent a year at Leyton Orient between his spells for us - he scored 1 goal.
Jevani Brown 'wasn't good enough' for Colchester.

And Stockley wasn't good enough for Aberdeen, and then returned to us and became great again.

I'd take him back because he'd offer us something different. Whether he'd be happy to not start every game and be used off the bench is another matter.

If MT was still our manager he would be in the market for Stockley I'm sure. With Gary it wouldn't make much sense given he has made it clear he wants a possession based game with strikers prepared to run the channels and be mobile. Stockley by definition and in his time with us is a traditional number 9 who thrives off aeriel battles and a back to front game. Add to that Sam has just got back in the team and scored three goals earning us 6 points. Can't see anyone coming in to disrupt our development of a player that we are about to try and extend his contract or will be looking to sell in the summer. For either of those to happen he has to be our main number 9. We will be looking for a replacement for Smith not a replacement for Nombe imo.

Josh Key to Blackpool is one I’ve heard , it’s probably nonsense but time will tell…

I wouldn’t be surprised to see one go out for decent money and 2-3 arrive on loan for example.

We have no idea what is going on behind the scenes or how GC really sees the gaps in our current squad and / or transfer window.

But if it was me I'd be looking for a specialist defensive right and left back to allow us to play 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 when this works to our advantage. Woody and Tully 20 years younger would be ideal. With Stubbs potentially coming back and assuming Grounds doesn't move on, we are OK for numbers in central defence. But IMO at the moment we are slightly predictable in terms of line-up and all our three wing backs are prone to lapses of concentration. I also think Caprice is a very good L1 right midfield player, and would really come into his own if he had a FB behind him.

And if Key really is wanted by a Championship team who offer us and him decent money, and we can use this to strengthen elsewhere, it'd be foolish to say no IMO.

For me it's a case of
a) return Harper to his parent club.
b) replacement for Pond.
c) replacement for Smith.

If there's anything left in the budget after that all well and good. If, of course, we lose a player or two transferred out then they'll need replacing as the squad is so thin but if players do leave I really hope it does'nt happen at the eleventh hour as with Alfie Pond.

Heard at yesterdays game that Archie Collins is apparently on our radar as a potential signing this January.
