Thank heavens that Somerset assured their survival last week, with weather disruption at the start of play and the Somerset reduced to 9 to 3 it could have otherwise been an agonising few days !

Cidermen 195 for 9. He's a good lad, young Goldsworthy. Hope he can get to 100 tomorrow.
Sadly added just one more run this morning to finish on 94, with Somerset 202 all out !

Kent rattling along at circa 6 runs an over, seemingly hell bent on preserving their Div 1 status ! 149 for 0 at lunch from 30 overs.

Yep, Kent have laid a foundation for a big score and lots of batting points.

It’s now looking like a shoot out between Yaaarkshire and Warwickshire for the second relegation spot. Yaaarkshire bowled out with no batting points could lose to Gloucestershire but Warwickshire held up by bad weather in Birmingham both yesterday and today.

It is somewhat farcical that Championship deciding games end up being played at the fag end of September when the roll of the meteorological dice is just as likely to decide a teams fate as their playing ability !

Desperation setting in at Edgbaston with Warks declaring at 272 for 4, and needing to beat both Hants and the weather ?

Warwickshire have to win and one of Kent or Yaaarkshire have to lose if Warwickshire are to stay up so the declaration is understandable but unless the Hampshire batting is as woeful as in the first innings against Kent last week it looks too big an ask.

It appears there will be no points deduction for Essex after an enquiry into recent events at Chelmsford.
