Having read the Vegans forum they are more dispondent than Exeweb and if the Vegans injuries are as bad as reported then they would appear in a worse position than us, as Harris inferred I wouldn't be surprised to see a change in formation particularly as we have a whole week to practice adjust tighten and hopefully no further training injuries. Unlike Harris I don't expect to see the 'dream team' up front, or perhaps it will be if you allow for Smith instead of Nombe. Wouldn't be surprised t see a couple of youngsters n the bench either for the experience. I would anticipate the following

Blackman
Key Sweeney Hartridge Sparkes
Collins Harper Kite
Brown (J) Smith Stansfield

Subs
Brown (S) Caprice Jay Borges/King Nombe Chauke Cox

A more direct style sees us winning 3-1 with Stansfield notching a brace and Smith getting his first for the club 1023 supporters make it up the hill to witness a turn around in form. Not all good news as Sweeney gets booked and is then suspended for the Gas
I wonder what we'd do if Sweeney gets suspended for the Gas, would leave us with only 1 available CB

So a need to keep it tactically fairy simple as some of those on the pitch are not the sharpest, unless I misconstrued that part of the interview.
City on TV is rarely a fun fest for the faithful.
So Ill take 1-1 and like others take the problems at FGR with a pinch of salt.

Think we need to play high press so that puts their defence under pressure. Would start with Stanno, Brown and Nombe - unfortunately Jay added nothing in last few games. We need Sparkes and Key to defend as well as go forward. If we still have very weakened defence then Kite and Collins need to a box to box job with no loose passing if possible. Not impressed by Harper but still early days so he needs to step up and protect centre back - ideal opportunity to show case what he can do.
If we get no joy with bring on Smith, Kegs and possibly Jay for fresh legs and little longer ball.
Defensively very difficult with so many bodies out but considering his size I wonder why Blackman does not come and claim the high balls - seems to wait on line but not that quick to react.

I think we should play all our attacking players of Smith, Nombe, Brown, Stanno, and MJ, and also our best crossers of the ball from wide areas in Sparkes and Sweeney, and just keep swinging the ball in the box every time we get it. Play Hartridge and utilise the long throw in to their box for every throw we get in their half. Complete the rest of the team with whoever is biggest to fill the defensive spots. No playing out from the back just get it forward at the earliest opportunity from goalkeeper/defence to the forward men. I don't care how unattractive this looks to the neutrals watching on TV. It will work.

7 nil to City.
Smith x5, Stanno x1, Nombe x1
A tongue in cheek post I know but it highlights for me the unbeleivably naieve misconception that the more strikers on the pitch the more chance we have of scoring. When chasing a game we will often see MT bringing on every striker we have, a trait he seemed to learn from Tisdale, it seldom works. Fact is it's often just a change in supply into the box that is needed or just a change in formation. You've as much chance of getting a goal by changing defensive midfielders as you have of bringing on a striker for a centre half. Indeed flooding the pitch with forwards probably lost us that Shrewsbury game.

I want to see a bit of ruthlessness and aggression in our play. We've started to look soft.

We've lost our 2 hardest players in Stubbs and Diabate. When they play we look really solid.

Agreed, although I do remember a few times when Tisdale would bring on McAllister and Logan at half time and that worked by really giving the defenders something else to think about.

A change in formation rather than a change in personnel is often whats required.

I agree with your point regarding change in formation.

A flat back four would give much more options with the attacking players we have.
