Food for thought for the Tory MPs who are keeping Johnson at the helm of the sinking ship. Man the lifeboats!

Considering the by-elections were on the 5th anniversary of Brexit you'd thought that would have been part of the Tories campaign and what a success its been, Perhaps in their leafleting, Big guns coming down from Westminster lauding it to the masses? Surely even our PM went to Wakefield and Honiton/Tiverton to bolster support, Oh hang on......

Just to add to the fallout, Oliver Dowden has quit as Tory Party Chairman saying "Someone needs to take responsibility"

Considering the by-elections were on the 5th anniversary of Brexit you'd thought that would have been part of the Tories campaign and what a success its been, Perhaps in their leafleting, Big guns coming down from Westminster lauding it to the masses? No they're not and you can bet while Johnson is out of the country behind the scenes in Tory gatherings they'll be whispers I'm sure. The unique thing about these two by-elections is that they're totally different types of voters, One in a total rural setting and the other from the industrial north, Two types of voters from opposite ends of the country both saying "We're not happy" that is the big problem for the Tories.

They can roll out their set of prepared excuses all they want, but mid-term blues doesn't explain losing a 24k majority. And to do it twice in 2 years is pretty stunning. Plus if this is anything to go by then the electorate are waking up to tactical voting, which is very bad news for the Tories.

Really it's a shame Starmer isn't a better leader. In my mind he was never meant to be a prospective PM, just steady the ship after Corbyn. But Johnson's absolutely spectacular self-destruction has made the prospect of a Labour minority government a real possibility.
