So now Andresson is not good enough…… Reading have signed Joe Lumley on a season long loan from Middlesbrough. So why not sign him?! If we are signing a goalkeeper on loan again why not someone who would fit right in and knows how Taylor sets up the team. Dawson didn’t have a great reputation before last season otherwise why was he playing for us?!
Because Andresson is not that good. Yeah, nice bubbly character, great for the media team to wheel him out daily for extra content but we need to be looking at better options. Just because he's one of about 4 keepers we know in the lower leagues doesn't mean he's the only option, there will be dozens of options out there we aren't even aware of - trust MT.

The new keeper will have a lot to live up to. He's going to need to win hearts and minds and start well, otherwise Exeweb will sizzle.

The Jokull we had with us during the 20-21 was very raw and clearly some areas of his game needed improving, particularly his kicking. Since then, he's played half a season in L1 and has won his first senior cap with Iceland. The question is how much has he improved and how good is he now.

We all want someone of Dawson's calibre, but that comes at a price that we cannot afford. We either hold our nerve and hope a similar player becomes available and is willing to come to Exeter, or we have to accept that we're going to have a GK that is inferior to what we had last season.

Think we need to afford a top keeper for next season
One of the most important players on the pitch as proved last season

Absolutely, getting Cam was a massive stroke of luck and we won't get anyone as good as him next season, however I'd like to think we can get someone better than Jokull.

As I said, there will be loads of keepers out there better than Jokull that we aren't aware of. I hope MT's little black book of goalkeepers has a list longer than Jokull, Pym, Dawson and Hamer.

As the cannibal said to his mate when stirring the big boiling pot with the two intrepid explorers inside : "I'm having a ball".

Bishop to City...it's gonna happen.

So you want to spend the best part of £400k of the playing budget to get someone of Dawson's calibre? When our entire playing budget will be around £2m? Or do you accept that actually we probably should pay a little less and realise that we'll probably get someone not as good as Cam?

Last Summer we were wetting ourselves hoping Jokull would sign, now it seems no-one rates him! OK so he may not be up to Cam's standard yet but he had some L1 experience in a leaky Morecambe defence. We could do worse!
