A great film...David McCullum (b1933) the only one left of that illustrious British cast, The wonderful actor Herbert Lom(1919-2012) was Czech by birth, seeking sanctuary in the U.K. after Germany broke the Munich agreement

He of course was famous for his part in the Pink Panther films, I thought one of his best roles was playing the slightly psychotic, Louie in the Ealing comedy Lady Killers(1955)
Lady killers, Another classic that gets an airing on TPTV, Lom was brilliant in Comedies an Drama alike.

Around 15 years or so ago the Northcott put on an excellent stage adaptation of the Ladykillers. The set was the two storey house with the front wall removed.

Talking of Herbert Lom, he is in The Seventh Veil(1945) later this evening at 1045pm (16th May)
On TPTV.
A good cast, inc James Mason, Ann Todd.
Lom plays a Dr of Psychiatry.
Worth recording/watching.

Here’s Lucy a America Sitcom on BBC1 in the early evening..Staring the one Lucy we all knew, Lucille Ball. Well known on both sides of the Atlantic for her TV shows from the early 1950s on.

Here’s Lucy ran for 6 seasons(144) episodes.Because of Lucille Balls high TV profile & fame in the US there were a few special guest appearances by other showbiz stars in the sitcom inc Elizabeth Taylor & Richard Burton.

Interesting that BBC Omnibus were raising concerns about computers and privacy way back in 1971.

Mark Zuckerberg wouldn't be born for another 13 years.

Tucked away late on Channel 4 was the excellent historical programme, Red Empire about the USSR which was in 7 parts using eyewitness accounts from the October Bolshevik Revolution of 1917 right through to Gorbachev in the late 1980s.

The one I remember most was about Collective Farming which ultimately lead to a famine in the early 1930s, cannibalism was rife in some areas with chilling first hand accounts from survivors of that time. Life has always been cheap either in Tsarist Russia, the Soviet Union, & as we see now in capitalist Russia.

Originally produced & broadcasted for the ITV Network by Yorkshire TV in 1990, the times were changing, just a decade before such access & interviews with Soviet citizens would have been very difficult or nigh on impossible.

A couple of episodes into The Sinner(Netflix) it looks good.

Detective Harry Ambrose investigates various atrocious murder cases and tries to analyse the reasons behind ordinary people committing heinous crimes.

There are 4 seasons. It will be my latest binge watch.
