Colchester next, so let's check in with John Motson and MOTD, ECFC at Layer Road 1991:

At the very end Gary Lineker reminisces about his trip to SJP with Leicester in 1981 ... never mind the names on the team sheet, he really was there!

Good find.
Not a great game and not a great City team. At least we didn't lose.

I remember going to a supporters club meeting when Bally was giving a chat post that game & before the replay, telling us to give the ref a bit of stick because the ref was known as a ‘homer’ , that would inevitably result in 50/50s going the Grecians way.

I remember that game. Dull as ditchwater and no hope after Steve Williams got sent off. However I did like this team. Two really attacking full backs always made it exciting.

I remember that game.
So do I. I left my City sticker on the back window and they ran a coin down the side of my car!

Another run out on national TV against Forest Green in September.
We were on TV against them in the FA Cup in 2002. A fittingly dreary 0-0 draw. How times have changed since that season......

That was the game I remembered for Mark Lawrenson’s classic quote to a city supporter.

He was walking through at the front of the away end and a city supporter just said ‘BOO!’ in his face, not particularly loud, not aggressively at all.

Lawrenson was obviously surprised, turned round and said “F*** off, you f*****g nobhead” in a very aggressive manner.

Hilarious.
