The Taliban must be up there, surely?
Well there is that of course! Could we perhaps have sorted this a little better?

Dunno, what do you think?
You were suggesting the U.K. were to blame a couple of posts ago.

I think the govt has been a right weasely bunch of fannies, as usual.

If we can't even get a couple of thousand interpreters out or find an alternative means to do so it is vaguely ridiculous.
At worst they can chuck a couple of quid at some people smugglers and get em over on some dinghies in a week.

Definitely, it’s been a clusterfuck of the highest proportions.

“An optimism bias” 🤣🤣🤣🤣 in other words “negligently naive”.

But the main blame for any executions is the Taliban. To lay the blame at the door of the UK or the US absolves the real criminals in all of this of their heinous crimes.

Of course the blame for executions are with the Taliban. But the West, particularly the USA and GB is to blame for leaving those people to their inevitable fate. It's not like we didn't know this would happen, we did.

We managed to get a pile of stray animals back ffs

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the rise of the Taliban isn't because of the UK nor America or Russia it's all to do with the laziness of the ANP. We and other countries combined spent trillions on training the ANP and all they can be bothered to do is smoke opium and throw our hard work and losses back in our faces. We've done all we can and until we police the country ourselves there's not much more we can do. We have lost lives training the Afghan police & military and neither one can be bothered to be organised to defend, so why should we?

As Raab quickly identified yesterday, get past the politically motivated huffing and puffing and the “something must be done” merchants, there are no easy solutions.
Your post is an example of that unfortunately.

One man's 'politically motivated huffing and puffing and the “something must be done” merchants' is another's Parliamentary committee system set up and appointed across the party political spectrum with the express purpose of being able to hold the Government to scrutiny.

There certainly woudn't be easy solutions for a man who can't even answer the question "when did your holiday start?" when the overriding poser is 'what was the advice given and when was it given?'.

Timelines are important (particularly for those who ran out of time and are now at the mercy of the Taliban).

It seems we are now in an age when promises become the deed and accountability stops at 'how dare you ask me that?'
