It'll be interesting to see if the Wokerrati give Billie Eilish a pass. I expect the Cancel Crew to overlook this one.

We could soon be seeing a defining moment: there's now good racism as well as bad racism.
Like the cricketer she was a kid. She'll deffo get a pass.

Being the dinosaur that I am, I'd not have recognised it as an anti Asian slur myself. Strange really, as I never use the word.

Err, the cricketer most definitely did not get a pass. He got cancelled quicker than you can say the word "cancelled"!

Please can you give us some guidelines as to what age it's OK to say the 'N' or the 'Ch**k' words? Thanks.

Apologies, I just googled and seen he's not back playing as far as I can see. Terrible stuff. I assumed he'd be back playing by now with the standard slap on the wrist and the knowledge he won't do it again.

Re guidelines, I'm a dinosaur, I barely know what is or isn't offensive so I'm literally the last person to ask!

Also, using a Dulux colour chart, could someone identify the darkness threshold required for me to use these words with impunity? I'm still hoping for a holiday in the Med this year so if I came back brown enough, it'd be nice to know that there are some new words I can get away with using without facing 'hate crime' charges. Of course, in the winter I will simply go back to using anti-white slurs like a good citizen (y)

The UK has had a long-standing issue with perpetuating a class system which affects ALL races. Nobody surely can deny that the kids of Rees- Mogg, doctors, lawyers and all other professions have a distinct advantage over those from the working class and, frankly, over the class of people who do not even reach the working class..

Things are getting better now I believe for working class kids who can now progress well and get into university or find a good job.

Imo the problem is more serious in the areas and homes where people have lost hope, where the housing system (tenement blocks) is depressing and anti-social,and where drugs, crime, unemployment, broken families and lack of interest in education are rife. It's really difficult for kids to escape that environment and to progress.

Regarding the "white" working class : "working class" covers a wide range of people : I believe the problem is not the working class where people are working and look after their children well: I think it's the "class" of people I mentioned above

Of course the racist Johnson and his buddies and fans will jump on this - they are meant to, and the racists are meant to leap up and down aghast at this latest "shock horror" move. Any excuse to bash ethnic groups. Oh, Hitler did that, didn't he?

The funny thing is that the vast majority of Asians are hard-working, entrepreneurial, don't get divorced, don't booze, don't do drugs, believe in the family, and place great emphasis on education. This is why they do well at school

To summarize, the education system has always favoured the elite and the middle class upwards : blatantly until comprehensive education came along .
The white working class has gradually evolved and their opportunities have grown over the last couple of decades. Although they are still disadvantaged compared to middle class upwards, the disadvantage has diminished
The real problem is the class of people who have lost hope, are dysfunctional, and live in very difficult environments : a problem which no government has been able or bothered to solve

So, to all the people who want to manipulate this latest announcement, hope it will make them feel good and satiate their narrow little minds : we all will get judged by our maker .👍

The cricketer was representing England in a test which the ECB had chosen to take a stance against discrimination of all kinds.

In addition, he was 18 or 19 when he made the offensive tweets, while Ellish was 13 or 14 when she fcuked up. In short, the two situations are quite different.

For the record, I don't think Ollie Robinson should be banned from playing cricket but I can absolutely understand why he wasn't selected for the second test against New Zealand.

Ok, in that case please can you give us some guidelines as to what age it's OK to say the 'N' or the 'Ch**k' words? From what you write there, you imply it's ok to say them before 18, but not after. Would be good if you could clarify what is good vs bad racism, thanks.

Also, don't you think it's possible that people can change their minds and attitudes from their early 20's moving into their early 40's? I don't see we should have 18 (or 16) as some kind of dividing line.

In regard to your last line Big John Bercow a prime example of a person who has changed from being a very reactionary right winger to a socialist. As you say some kind of age dividing line is just arbitrary and daft.

Regarding the current cultural war/divide, things will gradually work themselves out
and we will see which principles win.
The current generation of over 50's did not go to mixed ethnic schools and there were few ethnic role models. Some of them just can't get it into their heads that times are changing.
I truly believe that the current younger generation in general find it quite normal to see and mix with people with other ethnicities and are not racist at all
People have to realise that nations and their peoples evolve. We are now becoming a multi-ethnic society and the balance will increasingly swing towards the ethnic population. There's nothing that any of the grumpies can do about that - they're just going to have to suck it up. In 30 years or less racism will not be an issue in England : we are now hearing and seeing the last, dying embers of colonial attitudes.
So roll over grumpies, and tell the nationalists the news
