Walter Mondale, 93

I didn't know this, but he went into the 1984 Presidential Election race promising to increase taxes. And guess what happened.

VP under the hapless, hopeless Jimmy Carter.

He had no chance against a popular Ronnie Reagan in 1984 and was duly swatted away but did manage to win his own state and the DC.

RIP

Jimmy Cater is quoted saying the Mondale was the best VP the US has ever had!

He would say that wouldn’t he :)

Just as well if he was right on that as Jimmy was one of the worst presidents ever.

Carter was very much a case of "any port in a storm ". !Maybe history will one day judge Biden in the same way ! 😎

In RaWZ we trust....Amen.
Not really the appropriate thread to put this on,but it’s a interesting & sad story of the first victims of enemy action in Exeter during the early days of WW2.
4 boys from the same family were killed in a “hit & run” daylight air raid on 17th September 1940.
They were buried together in Higher Cemetery with no marker for their grave in those fraught times.
Recently on the Exeter Memories FB site the story was told.
With the publicity on the site & work of Giles Healey, money was raised for a memorial gravestone for the boys.
There was a dedication today with the Royal British Legion the local parish vicar, members of the public & MP Ben Bradshaw.
