Erstwhile Exeter City correspondent Nick Beer has just pointed out to me that the last two occasions we reached the fourth round were in 1951 and 1981. [If you're wondering what happened in 2011, we lost 3-2 to Walsall in a 1st round replay.]

In addition, in 1931, we made it to the sixth round, so it's looking good for Saturday!

1931 + 20 years = 1951 | 1951 + 30 years =1981 | 1981 + 40 years = 2021

No, I haven't. In any case, the good news is that the omens should be with us on Saturday; the less good news is that it will be 2071 before we reach the fourth round again!

I’m going to subscribe for a month with BT Sport just for this game, but before I do I want to make sure I’m not being thick - the whole game is being shown live on BT Sport 5, yes? Not some highlights summary show like they do on BBC, with clips of action whenever there’s an incident - the whole match, live, with commentary?

Thanks to anyone that can confirm!

Bonkers, I know, but I've signed up for BT Sport as the first 6 months are half price at the moment. Not only to watch Saturday's match, but quite a few of Villa's games seem to be on there (including their cup game this Friday). I like following Ollie.

I justified the outlay to myself thinking, with another lockdown, not shelling out for Sky and no more live football in the foreseeable future it is doable.
You will also be able to watch us in round 4.

I shouldn’t subscribe yet fred, think the game is likely to be off. Removed from bookies’ list of fixtures and they always know best.

Not necessarily, what if another broadcaster choses our tie for their coverage ?

While I'd agree there's nothing to be gained from signing up for BT Sport quite yet, have just looked on Oddschecker and all 16 of the bookies on the site are offering odds on Saturday's game. While on Betfair, more money has been punted on our game than all but three other third-round ties. If at one point a bookie wasn't offering odds on our game I'd imagine it was altogether more likely to be ****-up than conspiracy.
