Looks like the guidance will be October for fans to return to the ground. That would mean just a few behind closed doors.

Guidance coming from PM Johnson.

Not sure about Wales (and therefore Newport County).

Then they expect a possible second wave then.

Very mixed messages once again from an incompetent government.

I just hope they are wrong about a second wave.

The EFL would be wise to start the season in Oct,rather than the mooted date of September 12th.

Agreed. No point in starting before crowds back and even then it will depend on what rules apply. Season 2020/21 quite likely to be a mess unless a vaccine/treatments are found.

Then why did the FA announce this only Yesterday, Surely they are in talks with the Government about letting fans in?

Trouble is the intention is to finish the season by May 8th 2021 so to start in October would make that quite tricky.

I know Boris is getting a lot of criticism (a lot of it is fair) but they had to come up with a plan or when to allow fans back into stadiums. As October is 3 months away this proposed timescale can be kept under review.

I’ve seen people say “this will just be in time for the second wave” but let’s face it, nobody really knows if there will be a second wave so we have to come up with plans for easing restrictions but keep them under review with guidance from the number of infections throughout the next few months.

Scrap the mickey mouse cups, maybe even the League CUP for a season (or play them as pre season behind closed doors) No replays in the FA Cup and play more mid week league matches.
