Big brands don't want to deal with us. 500 shirts for Exeter City, or 2 million for Liverpool? If we went down the recognised brand route via an intermediary, then the compromise is that we would have to have an off-the-shelf kit, the same as the local pub. It would be interesting to see people's views on that. I suspect we would also make less money which is probably what is driving the decision making.

My 6 year old wants the Exeter City badge on the shirt. He doesn't give two hoots who the manufacturer is.

How many more shirts do you think we would sell if it was launched in say May compared to August? As long as we hit the start of the season, it probably makes no difference.
Having the new shirt ready before the end of the season could have great benefits if we make the play offs. The same as summer holidays with a new city shirt.

Marketing is not a great at our club.

What do you mean big brands don’t want to deal with us ?

Yes 6 year olds won’t worry but teenagers is a little different with name brands.

These teenagers sound pretty entitled considering they can't afford to buy their own Nike t-shirts or whatever.

None of your assertions are evidenced based. You are merely guessing.

The problem with getting a Nike or Adidas kit, as other people have mentioned, is that it will not be a bespoke kit! The club would then have to justify a price of £40-£50 for just sticking our badge on a shirt that you could pick up for £15-£20 in Sports Direct. Leicester have come under fire for it already this season, so if they aren’t willing to create bespoke kits for premier league sides, they damn sure won’t be doing it for little old Exeter City.

Not a new shirt, but the Terrace are about to release the old Carling blue, black and white shirt.

Two new shirts being released before the season starts, then a third kit during the season the Club has said.

No, not quite, one new shirt (the away one) being released before the season starts and then the third kit during the season. The home shirt is staying the same.

Apparently the away shirt is a ‘progression’ of the current one and the third kit will still nod towards our Flybe links.

I see. I couldn't get the Deb'n Live page to load, so guessed from the headline :)

"In terms of the designs, the new away kit will be a progression of the current away and third kits and similarly is a nod to our long-running partnership with Flybe," Hay said.

"The third kit will be something new and different, an eye catching design and not something we’ve seen before but hopefully will look great.

Too me it reads as if the away shirt will be a progression of BOTH the current away and third Flybe kit with the new third kit being completely new
