Jevani Brown Joins Exeter From Colchester

Exeter City have signed Jevani Brown a 26-year-old striker who had been released by Colchester United at the end of the season. Jevani scored 11 goals last season in 45 appearances, and includes a hat-trick against Southend United in the EFL Trophy. The previous season he failed to net in 22 appearances for Colchester and while on loan at Forest Green Rovers.

Matt Taylor said of the signing:-

We’re really pleased to sign Jevani. He is a player we’d admired from afar and someone who has found form and a position and got a goals return as part of that at the start of last season.

He is a player with a different dynamic to what we’ve had at the top of the pitch previously. He’s got pace, power and wants to stretch defenders. He can really affect the back line in different ways.

He is someone we are looking to build a team around in terms of creating chances.

After his first training session at the Cliff Hill training centre, Jevani spoke to the Club’s media team:-

It’s been a tough day but that’s what pre-season is all about.

I came down to meet Matt a week ago and speaking to him, it really sounded like somewhere I could come to progress my game.

Last year I played as a striker, which was new for me, but I enjoyed it. Wherever I play on the pitch though, I’m happy.

I was originally a number 10, and the best part of my game was assists, but playing up top with other players creating chances – hopefully I can provide both.
