Exeter City have completed the signing of Callum Rowe a defender released by Aston Villa. The 21-year-old played one game for Villa last season, a Premier League game against Liverpool. He was also on loan at Hereford United last season and helped them to reach the final of the FA Trophy.

Matt Taylor said of his signing:-

Callum came to train with us for a couple of reserve matches at the end of last season. He has a fantastic physical profile and he really impressed us.

We saw enough of him to give him that opportunity. Callum is of a certain age where he will continue to learn, and we hope he can remain fully fit and influence this side.

He has to master what is in front of him. Character and personality is a huge attribute at this football club and he certainly fits the bill.

Callum Rowe spoke of his move:-

This is a big club and I’m delighted to sign. I knew the club were interested at the back end of last season, and I can’t wait to play some games.

I’d spoken to Ben Chrisene and he said it was a great club and he knew I’d enjoy it because of the way that they develop the youth. This helped my decision to join the Club
