Exeter draw Chelsea again in EFL Trophy

The EFL have completed the next stage of the draw for the group stage of the EFL Trophy (Checkatrade Trophy), so along side Yeovil Town and Plymouth Argyle the U21 team will be Chelsea again. The young Blues will play all their Trophy fixtures away from home.

Fixtures dates have been confirmed as:-

• Tuesday 29th August – Exeter vs Yeovil and Plymouth vs Chelsea
• Tuesday 3rd October – Plymouth vs Exeter and Yeovil vs Chelsea
• Tuesday 7th November – Exeter vs Chelsea and Yeovil vs Plymouth

The teams met last season in this competition and Exeter won 3-2. Details here.

There has been some concern about how the draw was completed, as it was organised so that Southampton U21s would not end up in the same group as Portsmouth. It’s not thought any other team was excluded during the draw process.
