Exeter City’s young striker, Jamie Reid has joined Torquay United on a three month long loan.

The 21-year-old former Northern Ireland U21 international has featured in most of Exeter’s pre-season friendlies, scoring last Thursday against Truro having hit the underside of the bar early in the game. Reid played 16 times for the Grecians last season, netting once. jamie_reid

With the competition fierce for place up front for Exeter, a move to Conference side Torquay will be a boost to Reid and get him some game time.

Player-manager Kevin Nicholson is happy to add Jamie to his squad, saying on their official site:-

He’s very highly-rated at Exeter.

Robbie [Herrera] knows a lot about him, as do I. He’s come in because he’s the type of player than can play with either of the other two strikers. We could probably play them all up top if we wanted to.

He’s not come to sit on the bench; he’s come to get into the first eleven. He’ll be pushing Blissett and Williams to be at their best, and if they are with the firepower that they have I’d imagine they’ll score a fair few goals.

Jamie Reid played in Torquay’s friendly against Truro last night coming on as a 61st minute substitute.
