Troy is a Grecian Again

In a a signing that Exeter fans will be pleased with, Troy Archibald-Henville has again become a Grecians.

Troy left Exeter City in the summer of 2012 for Swindon Town, his fee of £200k was decided by a tribunal (see here). He’d played 130 times for Exeter, and helped the Grecians gain one promotion, to League 1. Troy came to Exeter on loan fro Tottenham Hotspurs and he made his début in the re-arranged game away at Dagenham & Redbridge helping Exeter to a 2-1 win. He signed a permanent deal with Exeter at the end of January 2010 for an undisclosed fee.exeter_bury

His move to Swindon Town was blighted by injury, and he eventually went to Rome for surgery on his knee. The following season he moved to Carlisle United on loan, and eventually signed for them on a permanent contract. Carlisle released Troy at the end of last season.

Troy speaking to the Club website said:-

I’ve been speaking to Paul and Steve for a few weeks about coming back to the club; over the last week or two it picked up and I agreed to the move.carlisle_exeter_feat

I’m a bit more experienced now and I’d like to come back and help push for promotion. I remember the final game of the 2008/09 season at Rotherham with all of the fans running on to the pitch. I really enjoyed my time here and I’m glad to be back. It feels like a homecoming. I came down with Carlisle towards the end of last season and I saw a lot of familiar faces.

There are still some of the same lads here as before. Jordan’s doing really well, he’s the captain now but he was just coming through as I was leaving. It’ll help me to settle in more quickly, one of the first awkward things is getting to know people so I’ve got a bit of a head start with that.
