Six Ales in the Spot for Fans

With so much talk about the opposition’s injury list, the TV crews, and celebrity fans it’s seems it’s easy for many to forget what being a football fan is all about. Exeter fans will now have suffered three changes away from the normal Saturday 3pm kick off times, and a hike in admission prices to see their football team in action.SJP_the_park

To make up for these inconveniences, the real ale bar in the Centre Spot will be providing six real ales to keep the expected increase in numbers properly watered. The bar will be open from 4pm and both Exeter and Liverpool fans are welcome. As a little note, they’ve re-branded themselves as The Famous Exeter City Real Ale and Cider Emporium, though possibly some City fans will still refer to them as the Bottle Bar.

The ales come from a variety of breweries and should keep most ale drinkers more than happy. The ales are as follows:-

  • Barnsey, from Bath Ales Ltd. Rich in fruit with hints of chocolate, Barnsey is a full-bodied dark ale that is both complex and deeply satisfying, at 4.5%.
  • Bob by Wickwar Wessex Brewing Co. A 4% ale brewed using locally sourced ingredients and 3 varieties of malt with Challenger and Fuggle hops to produce a well balanced hoppy palate.
  • Branscombe Vale OMG. No details of this new ale are available.
  • Skinner’s Brewery limited edition Copper, a fruity, hoppy session ale at 3.6%
  • Box Steam Brewery’s Piston Broke, a fine, full-bodied golden ale with a clean, refreshing bittersweet taste and a fruity, hoppy aroma at 4.5%
  • Bristol Beer Factory’s NOVA. Maris Otter, CaraPils and wheat malt allows the bright, fresh and zesty hop aromas to shine in the 3.8% ale.

The bar will also be open after the game.
