Grecian’s Pre-Season Plans Disrupted by Jordan Moore-Taylor’s Operation

For the third time in a year, 21-year-old Jordan Moore-Taylor has suffered a broken foot. He broke a metatarsal while out road-running.

Jordan missed the beginning of last season with the same injury after picking up the injury against Tupi in Brazil.  He missed the rest of the jordan_moore_taylorpre-season friendly games, returning to first team action in September in the home defeat to Mansfield. He then suffered the same injury against Coventry City during a Johnstone’s Paint Trophy in October. He then missed first team games through to Boxing Day.

He underwent an operation on Tuesday (9 June) that will help the bone heal properly. His foot will be immobilised for six weeks, and then rehabilitation can start. A better assessment of the injury will be known in a fortnight, but Moore-Taylor will be miss the start of the 2015/16 season.

Jordan Moore-Taylor had an excellent season in defence, and is an important player. It’s hugely disappointing not to have him ready for the start of the season. Will this be an opportunity for the one the new professionals, or will manager Paul Tisdale enter the transfer market? With rumours concerning Christian Ribeiro moving on, fans will have some concern about our state of readiness.
