Mansfield Fined for Fielding Ineligible Player Against Exeter

The Football League have announced that the Football Disciplinary Commission has met to review the fielding of an ineligible player (Reggie Lambe) in the League 2 match against the Grecian on Saturday 17 January.

The Stags have been fined £6,000, with £4,500 being suspended for 12 months. As Mansfield lost the game 3-2, there will be no points deduction.

Mansfield Town have made the following statement in their website

The club believes that we had a fair hearing by the Football Disciplinary Committee and the outcome reflects an honest administrative mistake made in mitigating circumstances.

The club will not be appealing the decision and now considers the matter closed.
