The first of the Devon Derby games is upon us with a trip to Home Park for the Grecians. With Exeter having done the double over the Pilgrims last season, Plymouth Argyle will be out to restore some pride.

The managers are both keenly aware that this match is important to both sets of fans. Paul Tisdale speaking to the Exeter City website said:-

It’s a very big game – we know how big it is and we’ll give it our very best shot.PAFC_programme

The players are in good spirits and are playing as a team.  We’ll play our game and we hopefully won’t be turned into something we’re not just because it’s the big derby.

We’ll play our game down there just like we did last year, and hopefully we’ve got enough about us to hold our nerve and ride our luck and bring our own talents into the game.

So it’ll be a big crowd for a big game, and we’ll have big support behind us.  It’ll be a great game to play in and I’m sure we’ll compete and aim to win it.

On the Plymouth Argyle it points out that John Sheridan is not a Janner, but has one win under his belt which was the 1-0 win back to Easter 2013. Sheridan talking to his website said:-38exeter_city_plymouth_argyle

This game is for the supporters and that’s what we’re going to try and do – win it for the fans, as [Exeter]’re our nearest rivals, and we want to get bragging rights.

It’s a massive game. We have just got to go out there and not leave anything behind, and have a real good go at winning the game.

It’s a big one for the fans,” he said. “I know the importance of the crowd. It’s early in the season and we’ll want to get our crowd going with a win over our local rivals.
