2 Fixtures for Exeter City Moved

Since the announcement of the fixtures for the 2014/15 season, 2 fixtures have had their date moved.

Unsurprisingly the away fixture at Luton Town has been shifted from the Saturday to Good Friday 3rd April, but with the kick off remaining at 3pm. We last visited Kennilworth Road in March 2009 in a League 2 match. City came away 2-1 winners thanks to goals from Adam Stansfield after 4 Luton Townminutes and Liam Sercombe after 29 minutes. Tom Craddock replied for the home team on 39 minutes. Exeter City finished the day in 6th place in League 2, well on their way to promotion to League 1, while Luton Town were rooted to the bottom of the table with 10 points, having started the season on minus 30 points. Exeter City did indeed secure promotion that season, while Luton Town were inevitably relegated. After 5 seasons in the Conference Premier Luton Town have this season returned to league football.

Less understandably so is the move of Exeter City’s away game at Dagenham and Redbridge. This has been moved from the traditional Saturday kick off time of 3pm to the dag_red_featFriday with a kick off of 7.45pm. No explanation has been given for this move on either the official Daggers website or the Official Grecians website. There is no England international to contend with, and just a normal Saturday in relation to the London based Premier League games. It’s not a popular move with travelling Grecians who face a late night away in London instead of a good day out in the capital. A return to Exeter of 3am is likely. 3 of the last 4 games at Victoria Road have been draws, City winning the other game. Last season being a 1-1 draw on a Saturday.
