Pompey’s Dunne Deal to Aid Exeter’s Finances

According to the Express & Echo the Grecians will be due a sum of money following his transfer from Stevenage to Portsmouth. The tribunal agreed ruling makes mention of a 20% cut on any profit over the £75k that Stevenage paid, however it is not believed that the fee was more that.

Exeter City’s Vice-Chairman is quoted in the E&E as follows:-

We are delighted for James – it will bring even more spice to the Portsmouth game on dunne_feat2the opening day – but bringing some more finance to the club is obviously a bonus

There will be a small windfall for the club, which we always knew would be coming at some point.

You get the money pro rata so we are still entitled to that payment.

Because he went to the tribunal and the tribunal knows that clubs will try and wriggle out of paying, they will still have to pay even if he does not make that extra appearance.

It is a real bonus with that extra bit of revenue and will go some way towards paying that loan off.

It is understood that the calculation is 29/30th of £25,000. So just over £24k.

Scottish Cup winner (with St Johnstone – see report) is quite excited by the move according to the official Portsmouth site.

I was sitting in the stand at Stevenage not playing and then the next thing I’m playing at Celtic Park in the cup final for St Johnstone. To win the trophy in front of 50,000 fans was unbelievable.

But I certainly don’t see this as a move down and Andy Awford has spelt out his plans for where this club is going.

I’m a midfield player who likes a tackle and let the more tricky players get on with their wizardry.

It’s very exciting to get the chance to play in front of the sort of gates they get at Pompey and I think we can keep rising from here.

I really do believe we can turn Fratton Park into a proper fortress and that we can move up and keep moving.
