The Devon and Exeter Gazette reported on this day, Monday 28th May 1928:-

Two new players – a centre-forward and a left back – have been secured by Mr Dave Wilson, the Exeter City Manager, for next season. Edward Cameron, the centre-forward, is 25 years old, weighs 11 stone and is 5ft. 7in. in height. Formerly with Birmingham, he was with Nelson. for two seasons while Mr Wilson was manager of that Club, and having monday_28_may_1928a four figure transfer fee upon him, joined Stafford Rangers, a Birmingham League Club, two seasons ago. He scored 41 goals in the 1926-27 campaign and 34 lasts season. He heavy transfer fee was recently removed.

The Half back is Alexander Christie, a native of Kilmarnock, who has been a regular performer with Rochdale in the Northern Section of the Third Division for the past three seasons. Weighing 11st. 7lb., he is 5ft. 10in. high. Mr Wilson is now concentrating on the task of securing another full back, two inside forwards, and a reserve centre-forward.

For information. Exeter City finished 21st in Division 3(S), with Gillingham propping up the rest of the table. The Grecians got to the 3rd round of the FA Cup, having held Leeds United 2-2 at the Park, they went down 5-1 at Elland Road. Edward Cameron played 27 times and scored 10 goals, he moved Stafford Rangers at the end of the season. Alexander Christie played just the 4 times for the Grecians. Wilson resigned as manager in February, and McDevitt took over as manager in March 1929.
