Dunne done Dundee United

Former Grecian James Dunne was involved in an historic Scottish FA Cup win on Saturday for St Johnstone. Celtic Park was the venue for St Johnstone versus Dundee United. In 130 years the Perth side had never won the cup. This all changed on Saturday. 47,345 Taysiders headed to Celtic’s ground for this Taysider’s derby.

James Dunne is on loan to St Johnstone from Stevenage after he’d made 59 appearances for the Hertfordshire club, then shipped out so that they can avoid a £25k appearance fee due to Exeter City following a tribunal hearing in September 2012.

He has a shot early in the game which the BBC described as :-

12:59 Attempt saved. James Dunne (St Johnstone) right footed shot from outside the box is saved in the top centre of the goal.

He also managed to get himself booked of course! Which the BBC said

48:42 Foul by James Dunne (St Johnstone).

48:51 Booking James Dunne (St Johnstone) is shown the yellow card.

St Johnstone have today had an open bus parade to celebrate. The thoughts of James Dunne on all of this are not available. Though he did tweet earlier today:-

Just wanna say thanks to everyone at st Johnston was a pleasure!!!

No news from Stevenage on what plans Graham Westley has for Dunne. Would be nice though from a Exeter City perspective, if he could play one more game for Stevenage.
