L2 Manager and Player of the Month Announced

York City’s Nigel Worthington is the Football League’s manager of york_ecfc-2014_feat2the month for League 2. York City have taken 19 points out of 21, only dropping points to Burton Albion and conceding just the one goal, in their 2-1 win at Bootham Crescent over Exeter City. York City currently sit outside a play-off place. Sky Sports’ Football League pundit Don Goodman said:

York’s unbeaten month was underlined by the solid base that Nigel has given the team.

Six clean sheets in seven games is a record that any club at any level would be thrilled with and the momentum is with York to march into the Play-Off positions, if they can keep it going in April

The March player of the month has been awarded to Rochdale’s midfielder Jamie Allen. rochdale_exeter_featHe scored an excellent volley against Wycombe and his running, moving and passing have been good and helped Rochdale reach the top of League 2. Rochdale manager Keith Hill said:

Jamie thoroughly deserves the award. He has been excellent for us, not only this month, but throughout the season, and I’m absolutely delighted for him.

Jamie works hard in training, he works hard on the pitch and he’s got a natural ability. We’re very fortunate to have that type of talent at our football club. March was a hard month with regards to the number of games played, but he took it in his stride and he excelled in all eight games. The award is testament to that.
