Exeter City FC Say “Yes” to Safe Standing

Exeter City have responded to a Football League questionnaire ‘Consultation on Seated and Standing Accommodation at Football League Matches’ which concerns itself about safe standing. big_bank_thumbWhile this is not a big issue for St James Park, with the use of the Big Bank as a standing terrace, it would become an issue when the Grecians get promoted to the Championship. Once in the Championship Clubs must only have seated areas for supporter use and to be implemented within 3 seasons of being in that Division.

Football League Clubs were invited to respond to the following four questions at the end of the detailed document:

  • Should the Football League approach the Minister for Sport to request trail_seatinghat the ‘all-seater’ stadia requirement for Championship clubs be reviewed with a view to the re-introduction of standing accommodation?
  • Should the Football League approach the Sports Grounds Safety Authority to request that rail seating products be licenced in Football League grounds?
  • Should clubs be permitted to accommodate supporters standing in rail seating in the Football League Championship?
  • Should clubs be permitted to revert from seating to standing accommodation in League 1 and League 2 following relegation from The Football League Championship?

Exeter City Football Club have confirmed  that they responded ‘Yes’ to all four questions.
