No Fall-out Between former City Striker Nardiello and Steve Evans
Bury have signed former Exeter City striker Daniel Nardiello on loan. The loan will be until January when it’s expected that the move will be made permanent. The move came as a surprise to many. Nards has been prolific in scoring for Rotherham, including 5 goals in 4 games at the start of the season, and was the Millers leading scorer last season with 19 goals as they won promotion to League 1. Nardiello was on loan (from Blackpool) in 2009 with Bury, so is familiar with Gigg Lane.
Speaking to Radio Sheffield, Rotherham manager Steve Evans explained:-
I’m paid to make tough decisions, we are looking at the future and Daniel has not been in the team and that allowed us to accept the request from the manager of Bury.
I have never had a bad word with Daniel Nardiello in all my time other than when I have not been happy with his performance or training, which was in the main last season.
His life has changed a little bit recently. He has got a young baby and at Bury it gives him the opportunity to get a contract beyond the summer and the chance to go and play on a very regular basis.
We have not had any bad words, I have done nothing but praise the kid when it has been right to do so and he goes with our best wishes. Daniel has magnificent in taking us to where we want to be.
Speaking on the official website, Nardiello explained:-
I was surprised to hear that Rotherham had been approached by Bury FC to enquire about my availability. Within 2 hours of me being informed of the interest I was being given a guided tour of the changes that have been made at Gigg Lane since my last visit to the Club.
The difference was remarkable and highlighted the level of professionalism and drive that the new Board has in making a difference at this Club.
