A Bleak House at Fratton Park?

No, not the crowd or the potential atmosphere. But rather a celebration of one of Portsmouth’s famous sons Charkes Dickens.

The Portsmouth Pop Up Dickens team is intending to use Saturday’s match between the 2 Trust owned Clubs, dickensPortsmouth and Exeter City, to read extracts from the work of Dickens. Actor Lauren Potter intends to read from Charles Dickens and tell the crowd about the man and his connection with the City and the readings will be beamed on to the new video screen (which the away fans won’t be able to see).

Sarah Cheverton, a writer and manager of the Pop Up Dickens project, said:-

We are delighted and really excited to be taking our project to Fratton Park. We have had tremendous feedback when we have performed in other locations, but this is our biggest stage yet.

Pompey Engagement Manager Micah Hall added:-30exeter_city_plymouth_argyle

At the club we are not only proud of our own heritage, but we share in the pride of all things great about Portsmouth. When we were approached to host this event we were very pleased to do so.

The match itself will no doubt be a tale of two cities for which we all have great expectations. The story on the Portsmouth official side can be found here.
