Football League’s Player and Manager of the Month Nominations for League 2

The football League have announced the nominations for the Football League player of the month for August, and also the manager of the month for August.

Player of the month for August – nominations.

Daniel Bentley. Keeper for Southend United. Only 20, and kept 3 clean sheets at the start of the season.

Jeff Hughes.  Signed for Fleetwood Town from Notts County. This midfielder has already netted 3 times in 5 league games.

Alfie Potter.  The 24 year old midfielder for Oxford United, has upped his game for the season. Scoring 2 against Portsmouth and having a few assists to his name.

Gary Roberts. As expected the 29 year old midfielder as been hugely influential in Chesterfield’s push at the top of League 2.

Manager of of the month for August – nominations.

Neal Ardley (AFC Wimbledon). The surprise team of the season, so far. Having avoided relegation last season, Ardley’s Wimbledon are sitting in joint 4th place in League 2.

Paul Cook (Chesterfield). Some good signings in the close season,. Paul Cook’s side have met expectations and sit on top of league 2.

Gary Rowett (Burton Albion). Have dealt with the play off blues and the loss of some influential players, have gotten some good results so far and sit in 3rd place in League 2.

Chris Wilder (Oxford United). Sitting pretty in 2nd place in League 2. Above expectations so far, Wilder did well in the close season and has a team playing some good football.

The winners will be announced on Sky Sports News on Friday morning.
