Tom Nichols Loaned to the Magpies

Tom Nichols, aged 19, is off to Dorchester Town for a month’s loan.  He was due to play for the Magpies on Saturday, but their game at the Avenue against AFC Hornchurch was postponed due to a wet pitch. Tom was on loan at Dorchester last season, and scored an impressive 8 goal in 12 outings. City youngster’s Jamie Reid and Jake Gosling have also been on loan at Dorchester Town this season.

Talking to the Dorset Echo, Magpies boss Phil Simkin said:-

I’ve had him in mind all along. I’d been speaking to Exeter to see if there was any chance we could bring him back and then suddenly out of the blue they said ‘yes’.  Our secretary Dave Martin and the people at Exeter worked miracles to get him signed three minutes before the deadline on Friday.

He’s not the biggest front player but he’s got good pace and great movement off the ball.  He is a very good player and enjoyed his time here before and was a very popular lad within the squad and with the supporters. Unfortunately, we had a lot of postponements in the time he was here and he didn’t play that many games and since then he’s been on the fringes of the Exeter first team and went on-loan to Hereford and Bath.

Tom Nichols played 9 games for Hereford United at the start of the season, scoing 1 goal in 9 appearances. He then went on loan to Bath City where he scored 1 goal in 7 games for the Romans. Tom has also made 3 appearances for Exeter City in League 2 this season, coming on as substitute in the Wycombe, Southend and Wimbledon games.
