Exeter City youngster Sean Goss join Manchester United

Exeter City youngster Sean Goss has signed with Manchester United.

The 16-year-old from Crediton has been part of Exeter City’s Centre of Excellence since he was eight-years-old and started his life as a Red Devil on Monday morning.

Sean, who scored 13 times from the centre of midfield for the City Under 16s last season, spent time on trial with United in a tournament in Holland earlier this year and after impressing he has now joined the Academy at one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Sean said of his move:-

The last few days haven’t felt real – seeing all the first team players around and the training facilities is like a different world. As a Man United supporter as well as a City fan I couldn’t believe it, I’d dreamt about it all my life.

I can’t wait to get started now and we’ve got pre-season games coming up.

I just have to continue working hard and my aim now is to just push higher and higher through the ranks.

I’ve got family nearby and I’m sure it’ll help a lot knowing they are just around the corner.

City’s will be the first result I look out for on a Saturday and I’ll be doing my best to get to northern away games if I haven’t got a fixture.

The statement from Exeter City adds:-

It is fantastic to see that our Centre of Excellence is producing players that catch the eye of the likes of Manchester United and it a credit to both Sean as a player and the coaches who’ve overseen his development for the last eight years or so that this move has come about.

Everyone at the club wishes him all the best at Manchester United and we’ll be following his progress closely. Best of luck Sean!

The money from Sean’s move will be ring-fenced for the youth.
