Club confirms Arron Davies Signing

Late last week Sky Sports News briefly reported that midfielder Arron Davies had signed for City, pending a Medical.  Eagle-eyed Exewebbers spotted it and we published a story.

A few days passed with no news from the club and Sky Sports had published nothing online, so we toned our article down; turning “Arron Davies is a Grecian” into “Is Arron Davies a Grecian?”.

Well, he may not quite have been then – but he is now.  The club have confirmed this morning that Arron Davies has signed a deal with the Grecians after his contract was terminated by Northampton.

Arron started his career with Southampton when they were in the Premier League, but didn’t make any first team appearances.  He went on a short loan to Barnsley and made his first league appearance in February 2004 coming on as a substitute, playing along side Dan Nardiello, against Wrexham in League 2. He made 4 appearances for Barnsley, losing all 4 games, including a 6-1 thrashing by Grimsby.

Released by Harry Redknapp he then joined Yeovil later in 2004 on a free. He scored 8 times for Yeovil, including a hat-trick against Chesterfield.  He also scored twice in a L1 play-off game against Forest.

He then moved to Forest, but was released in January 2010, at the same time as former Exeter City player, Joe Heath. Arron also played for Brighton & Hove Albion, Yeovil Town (for the 2nd time), Peterborough United and Northampton Town.

Arron played for the Posh against Exeter City, at London Road on 5th March 2011 coming on as an 89th minute substitute.

A warm Exeweb welcome to Arron Davies.  Read more about Arron on Wikipedia andhead on over to the ECFC Official Site for more, including an interview with the man himself.

In other news, City striker John O’Flynn has committed his future to the club.
