Jesus, people acting like jilted lovers over a player we've never even seen play. Coming down to train with us for a couple of weeks before signing for a different club is a pretty low bar for the Judas nonsense.

IF he gave assurances he'd sign for us and then went elsewhere and IF Tillson was released on the back of those assurances, then that seems a bit of an error, but remember... Tillson was terrible. Shame we didn't get an upgrade in if we had the budget for it and that was the plan, but that's football... Its all about timing and sometimes you're left stood up when the music stops! We are talking about deep squad cover though, rather than 1st XI though, to put things in perspective.

Why are people assuming we actually wanted him. My interpretation is that we looked at him, decided he was no better than Will Dean and decided not to sign him. I presume that Tillson was packed off to Cheltenham, even though we weren't expecting to sign a replacement.

It's possible. I think because he trained with us, there were "strong rumours" that we'd more or less tied things up with a midfielder, Tillson was released, Matt Taylor said he still wanted to get '1 or 2 more over the line'... He's good enough for Mansfield and as I understand, he's a defensive midfield role.. a position we're light in and have just released someone who is a substandard specialist in that role...

Think there's enough circumstantial evidence that we wanted him to make it a reasonable assumption. Who know's the reality though.

Lets face it, Tillson does a good impersonation of a footballer but he's not going to set L2 alight with his technical ability or strategic play.

We have enough midfielders as it is and as the weakest CM it makes sense to get him off the wage bill. If we are playing 4 in midfield you need to try and accommodate Taylor and Law centrally if possible so there's just no room for Tillson. When Boateng comes back it's going to be an even bigger headache in the center of the park. Probably go 4-5-1 at that point.

Disagree... think we could do with a specialist holding player. Tillson is that specialist, but not of sufficient quality. He needs replacing. Would've been nice to have replaced him last week, but not to be. Don't think we're too bad. Collins is looking good in that role and hopefully Dean will step up. The squad is never perfect. Not gonna lose sleep over losing Tillson though.

My thoughts too. We just need to hear from KMT before we can comment.

This is on the official site re: Will Dean

He can play in central defence or midfield and has a real classy passing range along with a determination to regain possession and defend.
Now, granted they're not going to say he can't tackle and his passing is poor but frankly would this Tomlinson bloke be miles better? None of us had ever heard of Tomlinson. He's 21 now and been at Blackburn for 10 years but doesn't appear to have made more than a handful of sub appearances.

It's the equivalent of Torquay Utd being linked with Matt Jay and Torquay fans being upset that he went to Bath City instead.

Matt Jay would cause havoc in Torquay's league, to be fair.

No idea about this Tomlinson, but according to reports, he'd be a big player at this level.... we'll find out anyway, won't we. Am excited to see Will Dean.

It was not a good comparison because I actually quite like Matt Jay! I think his technical skills are superb but he has never imposed himself on a match.

I was just trying to think of a young city player who'd made a few appearances but never established himself despite not being 18-20 years old anymore.

Which reports? I did a fair bit of research on this laddie and didn't see any particular fond farewell from Blackburn fans or any other outlet. As I said before, if he is good enough to be a big player at Div 2 level you'd think Blackburn would place him on a loan..

Seen lots of comments from Blackburn fans on Twitter saying he’s going to be a great player at L2 level. We’ll see how he does.
