Wage structure

A post on another thread got me thinking what our current wage structure would look like. Now I think our baseline playing budget is approx £1.2m per year, and we are currently topping that up to the tune of £500k per season (for the next couple of years) due to recent transfer income. That provides a total budget of £1.7m. Based on these assumptions and a optimum squad size of 25, then perhaps our wage structure looks something like the below. In essence we could pay a few first year pro's £400 / week and our senior players all in excess of £1,000 / week, with a few of the 'stars' considerably more.

Weekly Annual
1 … £3,000 …. £156,000
2 … £3,000 …. £156,000
3 … £2,500 …. £130,000
4 … £2,500 …. £130,000
5 … £2,000 …. £104,000
6 … £2,000 …. £104,000
7 … £2,000 …. £104,000
8 … £1,500 …. £78,000
9 … £1,500 …. £78,000
10 … £1,500 …. £78,000
11 … £1,000 …. £52,000
12 … £1,000 …. £52,000
13 … £1,000 …. £52,000
14 … £1,000 …. £52,000
15 … £800 …. £41,600
16 … £800 …. £41,600
17 … £800 …. £41,600
18 … £800 …. £41,600
19 … £800 …. £41,600
20 … £600 …. £31,200
21 … £600 …. £31,200
22 … £600 …. £31,200
23 … £400 …. £20,800
24 … £400 …. £20,800
25 … £400 …. £20,800
...... £32,500... £1,690,000

I stress this is all complete guesswork, but would welcome people's views ...

If our 10th highest paid player is on 1.5k a week we need to start getting far better value !

Given that (by implication at least) he's part of our starting ELEVEN perhaps not so far fetched.

A great and insightful bit of work there boyo. (y). A bit of a reality check there for some of the more critical supporters - especially those absent "friends" who contribute nothing save carping from the sidelines.

Don't the coaching and support staff also come out of this "playing" budget?

So considering this is a thread for total and utter guesswork what the fook do people think Hamon was on ?

Remember lads, Tisdale said he never wasted a penny and often got £1.50 for every £1 he spent.

My understanding is that our baseline budget (minus windfalls) is about £1.4 million, with us topping up to over £2 million from cash in the bank.

On that calculation we have about 3 years left before the cash in the bank is depleted (assuming there are no more significant cash windfalls). That then puts us in the position of having a baseline budget that is bottom 3rd in the division.

I think that's a little high, Martin.

I've been told the baseline budget is around £1.1m, which is currently being topped up to around £1.5m. Competitive but by no means at the level of some big spenders.
