He's a Government Minister. They need to be held to a higher account than the rest of us. He has so many people that work for him, so many people that can be part of a support network that the rest of us don't have.
Ah ok Hants. Fair enough. Wasn't having a pop by the way. Just saying that for some people making a car journey outside their area is essential. My partner does travel alone and drops of the shopping and comes home so it's as close to following the guidelines as we can get. If there were more supermarket deliveries available then we'd do this but there aren't for obvious reasons.

I chatted to my mum earlier. I had an opportunity to see her recently, but because of my job I couldn't do so as the risk is too high. I want Government Ministers to set an example.

Absolutely agree. My partner doesn't go in for a chat and cuppa. It's strictly dropping the shopping off, having no contact other than a quick chat from the door with my partners mum in the living room and back home again. It's difficult as I guess there is no stopping anyone from driving around the country visiting friends and family but what people have to remember is that if they do so and have contact they are putting those loved ones at risk.

Maybe he drops the groceries by the door, rings the bell and retreats to his car while his Mum picks up the goods.

He very probably did. Government Ministers need to be held to a higher account at a higher level than the rest of the people.

Stop and search shopping bags .....

“I think the guidance could be even clearer, but it’s where do you draw the line?”
Just as bloody long as Viagra is the right side of the line I'll go on long with anything else.😎

He's a son looking after his mother. We'll have to agree to disagree on this.

If there is no contact between the person doing the shopping and the person being delivered to then it's no different to a supermarket delivery driver making a delivery so I don't see the problem. The problem is that some people cannot be trusted not to do the shopping then pop in for a cuppa, a hug and a long chat. Surely these people are in the minority though?

I suppose somebody had to drop off the supplies and medication but when Ministers lecture us solemnly they must be squeaky clean. Travelling in your car is hardly likely to spread the infection as you are in effect social distancing. The argument seems to be that the driver might have an accident and put pressure on the emergency services.
