Been watch 63 up. Probably followed this since 21 up and it's really interesting how people of different classes have fared over the years and what deal life has dealt them

Just catching up on Thatcher A Very British Revolution(3 episodes so far) really interesting.
I had just turned 18 when she was PM on the back of the 1979 election victory & remember the chaos around that time well, the funny thing being that it seemed normal at the time, but is shocking looking back.
My first few years working,20% pay rises were the norm, because that’s what inflation was running at.

On PBS America(Sky 174) Einsatzgruppen : Nazi Death Squads documentary(4 parts consecutively) Truly shocking.

Eyewitness testimony from over the years of the massacres of Jews in the Baltic States,Ukraine & Belorussia.Film & photos of the events are shocking.Murder on a industrial scale carried out mostly by locals recruited in areas mentioned.

Just started (re)watching The Thick of It on BBC iplayer.
My, how little things have changed since then. :( (Although Malcolm Tucker was - and still is - a genius creation)

For shame I haven't yet watched any of this - will do so when I get a proper chance.

Deutschland 86 the sequel to the excellent Deutschland 83.

East German agents selling arms to both sides in apartheid South Africa to get hard currency for their crumbling socialist paradise after the Soviet Union started to pull the plug financially under Gorbachev.
A good look at the different world we inhabited back then..In German with English subtitles.

On More 4 channel.
Late to the party with these. Enjoying them but all getting too far-fetched(!) '86 seems to have 'jumped the shark' a bit. It's absurd and almost darkly comic in parts but totally grim in others. I'm not sure how deliberate it is? I prefer my Stasi dramas a bit more darker and serious.

I know this is the TV thread but I highly recommend "The Lives of Others". A German film about a Stasi agent. A truly brilliant film.

That is a excellent film.I saw it at the Phoenix just after it was released & picked it up on DVD a few years later.
